Toka Valu

Toka Valu (he/him)

Toka is a Pacific Islander Artist and Illustrator of Tongan descent with over twenty years visual arts work. His influences are informed by his cultural upbringing in the Kingdom of Tonga and cultivated by the Duwamish lands he now calls home in the Pacific NW. Toka’s practice integrates both his Tongan identity and his Northwest life experience to create a bold and cutting artistry. As a multifaceted creative, his work aims to illuminate relational connections and the resulting dynamics of those ties. Using a variety of applications, Toka’s work is contemporary yet grounded in traditional Pasifika and Tongan aesthetics.
