Seeds of the Future: Childcare at the Metropole

Published: Mar 31, 2026

Finding a good childcare provider in Seattle can be challenging. Many providers have waitlists that are years long, have high teacher turnover rates, and inadequate hours for most working parents. The need for competent, caring, and available childcare services in the downtown core became evident early on in our discussions with the community.

The Metropole is proud to partner with Seed of Life: Center for Early Learning & Preschool, Inc., as a reliable, long-standing provider of childcare services in Seattle.

Culture of Inclusivity

Seed of Life offers a comprehensive, full-time, multicultural early childhood education program for children aged 3 months to 6 years. A community and culture of inclusivity are expressed through the food cooked on site, the diversity shown in their collection of books featured in the classrooms, the toys and dolls provided, and the languages spoken to the staff and taught to the children (English, Spanish, and Vietnamese).

“Choosing Seed of Life for my son was one of the best decisions I have ever made as a parent. He has been with Seed of Life for five years, and from day one, the staff treated him like family. Trust does not come easily to me when it comes to my children, but Seed of Life created a safe, loving, and supportive environment that allowed my son to grow and thrive.”

Astara Gill, parent to 2 children currently enrolled at Seed of Life

Meal Time

All meals are cooked on-site, and they aim to provide as much farm-to-table, organic food as possible. Once a month, children are sent home with a food bag filled with produce from local farms and a recipe card. This small, intentional act brings families together and allows children to continue learning at home in partnership with the school and their families.

Program and Activities

Throughout the year, guardian/parent conferences are offered along with developmental assessments, vision and hearing screenings, and AFQ assessments. In the classrooms, play stations are open and available, allowing learning and play to be actively guided by the children and their interests. Children play outside twice a day, regardless of the weather, and field trips outside of the center happen once a month. Field trip locations include the zoo, aquarium, Pacific Science Center, museums, pumpkin farms, Pike Place Market, the International District, and many others throughout the city.

Seed of Life has been fortunate to have extremely low staff turnover, which has allowed the children to form close bonds with their teachers over the years.

Seed of Life welcomes all kinds of learners and children from diverse backgrounds, family structures, and financial situations. Since the Metropole location for Seed of Life is fairly new, we still have openings for all ages. Inquire today to schedule a tour!
